What's in the HimeBox?

What's in the HimeBox?

Here is the newly introduced HimeBox! It is a snack box where you can get popular Japanese snacks and candies straight from Japan to your doorstep! The theme is "My family's favorites for your family". The HimeBox is filled to the brim with goodies from Japan and you'll be hard pressed to find another Japanese snack box packed with so much value in the box! Let me explain to you everything that's in the wonderful HimeBox. (Explained left to right)

Starting from the left, these are the BBQ Chips from Sapporo Potato! Sapporo Potato is a branch off of the insanely popular snack brand, Calbee, in Japan. You’ll usually be able to find the silly little potato chip character on most potato chips sold in Japan. It is light, crispy, and packed with great flavor that makes it super easy to devour at a monstrous pace. This will be gone in seconds once you bring it to the living room…at least that’s what it’s like in my family!

In the middle is Butter-Soy Sauce flavor Baby Star Dodekai Ramen Chips! Delicious, crispy, and addictive. Eat it by itself or add it into your bowl of ramen as shown in the photo! Butter-Soy Sauce flavor does seem very strange but don’t fret! It’s a very common flavoring in Japan and I personally really enjoy it. I remember pulling out a bag of ramen chips out of my lunchbox in elementary school and people would be all over me begging to trade their fruit roll ups for a handful. They’re just that good.

On the right are the famous Calbee Potato Chips in the flavor “Happy Butter”. From the same brand as the BBQ chips above, you will be able to find this brand of chips almost anywhere in Japan. Usually, the lightly salted flavor is sold but I think that this butter flavor is better. It is light and crispy with just the right amount of butter flavor so that it’s not overwhelming and suffocating you with fat and grease like other potato chip brands!

On the left is a Takoyaki flavored Umaibo! It is a light and crispy cylindrical shaped, puffed corn snack! Peel the wrapper back like a banana and enjoy one of the most popular snacks from Japan! My family is from Osaka and one of the staple food items there is takoyaki. Takoyaki is a dough ball filled with octopus, tempura, and more that makes it one of the most delicious, savory foods in Japan. Enjoy!

In the middle is a Premium Umaibo in Bruschetta flavor!! The normal Takoyaki Umaibo is something you can find much easier than this special and literally Premium Umaibo!! The flavor is definitely strange but it really is just a fancy mozzarella and camembert cheese Umaibo. It is, at its core, a puffed corn snack coated in flavoring powder that you can unwrap like a banana for a mess-free eating experience. This is harder to find than normal Umaibo, even in Japan, so try this while you can!

The snack on the right is a bag of Soy Sauce flavored Onigiri Senbei! Onigiri is a traditional Japanese food also known as a rice ball. These are Senbei rice crackers shaped in the triangular Onigiri shape with soy sauce flavoring and seaweed flakes on it. Crispy, delicious, and also in an eco-friendly bag! The soy sauce flavoring is not overpowering and just adds a nice depth to the traditional rice flavor that is packed in the senbei cracker. Your hand will non stop keep going into the bag to get more of this addicting flavor!

The left pack are Gumi no Wa Grape Flavored Gummy Rings! The purple side is purple grape and the green is muscat flavored. My little brother is obsessed with them and loves eating them as much as he loves playing with them. Japan has amazing fruit and takes their fruit flavored items very seriously which makes these delicious and not taste like Tylenol. A super popular candy among young children in Japan!!

This middle candy is a Dragon Character Pack with Grape Ramune Candies in it! This is a highly popular candy pack among children in Japan. Ramune is a popular Japanese fizzy drink that you can find in America as well! This is a bunch of small hard candies that are modeled off of grape flavored ramune fizzy drinks. When you find small character packs like these in Japan, you can be sure to find a small photo, a sticker, or even a little toy in them!

The right side shows Kame Kame Sour Gummies in Cola Flavor covered in sugar! This ‘SOURS’ brand can be found almost anywhere you go in Japan from convenience stores to big grocery stores. These are gummies covered in sugar like Sour Patch so they’re a favorite among children but be careful of that sugar rush! My little brother loves these and they are a staple airplane travel snack to bring. There are two different textures on these gummies. The top part is a brown, hard gummy and the bottom is a pale, softer gummy texture!

The one with the fish on the package is Puku Puku Tai Chocolate! It’s a light and crispy wafer snack with chocolate sandwiched in between that is modeled after the highly popular and traditional taiyaki snack. The real taiyaki is a popular street vendor style food that is like a pancake encasing azuki red bean. This is a fun chocolate flavored snack for children that is modeled after that and is quite the yummy substitute. This was also shown in the Brad Pitt movie ‘Bullet Train’ with Tangerine from the Tangerine and Lemon duo holding it during the movie!

The middle snack with the adorable packaging is Don Don Yaki Senbei Cracker! It is made by Yaokin which is the same company that makes the extremely popular Umaibo snacks as well! Don-Don Yaki is a tonkatsu sauce flavored, savory senbei cracker snack that resembles delicious Japanese festival food! Its crispiness paired with the tonkatsu sauce makes it feel like you’re eating the freshly fried food found at festivals while the powerful beat of the taiko drums are resonating in your heart. Immerse yourself in this delicious flavor!

The right snack is Konpeito, a traditional sugar ball snack that has been around in Japan since the Sengoku era. You have probably seen these in Ghibli movies such as Spirited Away when Lin was feeding the Traveling Soot/Makkuro-kurosuke where Kamaji boils the water for the bathhouse. These different colored sugar balls have different flavors and are a traditional candy loved by many around Japan. Usually sold around temples and shrines, explore traditional Japanese culture with Konpeito!

The big stack of cookies are the Puchi Chocolate Chip Cookies! Chocolate chips in chocolate cookies are such an amazing combination but will these Japanese ones match your taste? Japanese snacks have much less sugar in them when compared to your average American snack so let’s find out! Although I was born and raised in America, I find myself to prefer Japanese snacks and these are no exception. The flavoring and texture of these cookies are so satisfyingly good to me so I hope you enjoy these too!

This middle cup with a strange blue character on it is a Chocolate Biscuit Doraemon snack! Doraemon is a super popular anime for kids in Japan about a time traveling robot cat that helps guide a preteen boy named Nobita through life! Children love this snack as well as the franchise with over 1,000 episodes of this show airing! This is a yummy biscuit snack that is encased in chocolate. It comes with a cup shape which makes it easy to hold and mess free. My baby cousin loves this snack and I make sure to always get it for him!

This right snack is the new and massive Dodekaba chocolate peanut bar! A massive chocolate bar with peanut bits in it to make it fun to eat. Although Japan is known for making snacks tiny and cute, this is definitely huge and American sized. An absolutely enormous bar with the superb combination of chocolate and peanuts that you can really munch down on. A fun snack for children that they love to buy because they really get a bang for their buck with this size of chocolate.

The left are Miyata’s Young Donuts! This is a pack of four, sugar coated mini donuts with dairy in them so beware lactose intolerant people. Japanese desserts and candies are very different from American desserts in that they have a lot less sugar and fat in them so let’s see if these fit to your taste! These mini donuts are definitely very fun just to look at and really exaggerates the fact that everything is bigger in America.

The middle green package is Meiji’s Matcha Chocolate! 26 blocks of smooth, rich, creamy, chocolate blocks filled with delicious matcha flavor that really makes you feel as if you’re in Japan. Matcha is a flavor that has been used in Japan for so long, traced back into the 12th century and now a very prominent flavor in Japanese cuisine. Used in tea, mochi, cakes, parfaits, and more! Enjoy this yummy matcha and chocolate combination from the highly popular brand Meiji!

This familiar package on the right is a whole bag of Cheesecake flavored KitKat! I bet most people have never tasted these, much less seen cheesecake flavored KitKat before! This is the same concept as your average chocolate KitKat except with the rich and deep flavor of cheesecake. Break this crispy wafer apart and enjoy the cheesecake flavor that is coated on between and over the wafers. This is even quite unusual in Japan as well so get it while you can because who knows when you will be able to try something like this again!

This snack on the left is Alfort mini chocolate biscuit! A chocolate biscuit paired with a sophisticated, bitter, dark chocolate on top of it that really elevates the flavor. My mom loves this chocolate and we all like to snack on them during a movie. I never get tired of the texture because the pairing of the crunchy biscuit with the smooth chocolate is so nice. Since it is dark chocolate, children may not like it but hey, that’s just more for chocolate for the adults!

This middle package is Tirol Choco’s Variety Pack filled with many different types of chocolate! This is definitely more kid friendly than the previous Alfort chocolate. With so many different flavors there is sure to be one that you like and you will never get tired of this pack! There is milk chocolate, strawberry jelly chocolate, biscuit chocolate, white chocolate with chocolate chip cookies, nutty chocolate, almond chocolate, and then classic TIROL chocolate. This variety pack actually comes with an extra big chocolate to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Tirol chocolate as well! Enjoy this with your whole family!

The right snack is an interactive Fossil Pokemon Chocolate snack! Chip away at this chocolate crisp to get to the fossil Pokemon chocolate inside! The outer “rock” layer is chocolate crispy wafer that you can carefully break apart so you can get to the white chocolate Pokemon fossil and the banana flavored Pikachu as well! Fun for kids but Pokemon fans of any age can definitely enjoy this super interactive snack game. This is an official Bandai Pokemon Nintendo snack created to bring joy for all Pokemon fans!

The snack with the famous Luffy and Zoro on it is the Veggie Ottotto Consomme One Piece Biscuit snack! Morinaga is a long standing Japanese snack and confectionery business that started in the 1800s specializing in baby and infant snacks. They have evolved to have many other different things like this One Piece biscuit that everyone can enjoy! This was made as promo for the One Piece Film Red Film that has come out recently featuring Luffy and Zoro on the front box holding an abundance of vegetables. These are lightly flavored veggie biscuits with One Piece shaped characters in them with a challenge to find all 16! Partake in the challenge and find the Straw Hats!

The middle package is the very popular Happy-turn! Happy-turn is a rice cracker with a salt flavoring that is called “happy powder” that is loved by many in both America and Japan. If you find a heart shaped Happy-turn that means you are lucky and happy! One of my all time favorite Japanese snacks and I’ve been eating it for years on end now with my family. These crispy rice cracker snacks have a wonderfully addicting flavor that really does bring happiness and love to everyone sharing a pack.

The snacks on the right side are Assorted Japanese Senbei Snacks from the northern sea. Enjoy each bite of the many traditional flavors packed into this senbei cracker snack pack. My dad’s favorite type of snack because of its amazing yet subtle taste that you just can’t get enough of. My grandpa loves to pair these senbei snacks with Japanese beer after dinner to watch some baseball on TV. With so many different textures and flavors in this one pack, you will be sure to find one that you love!

The package on the left is Calbee’s Kappa Ebi-Sen Shrimp Senbei Cracker! A very popular snack in Japan for people of all ages! It’s a very light senbei cracker stick that is lightly coated in a subtle shrimp flavor that is addicting to munch on. The shrimp flavor is definitely unusual but don’t worry! It’s not an overpowering flavor at all and it is a very gentle salty flavor with a hint of shrimp powder on it. It actually also has a good amount of calcium as well which makes it a popular family snack!

I'm sure the middle package is familiar but these are Chocolate Strawberry Chunk Pocky! I’m sure most people already know what Pocky is but these are especially good. These are chocolate biscuit Pocky covered in sweet, strawberry flavored cream with small bits of strawberry chunks on it as well! So many great flavors and textures that make this delicious and yummier than your average strawberry pocky! You don’t really find chocolate in Japanese snack boxes but this box is filled with chocolate snacks galore so get it now!

The other pink package is Suppa Mucho Ume flavor! My personal all time favorite snack and a highly popular snack around Japan as well. This is a light and crispy potato chip snack that is covered in an Umeboshi (pickled plum) flavoring that is similar to the Stick Potato and Karamucho snack. This chip is thin like a shoestring fry lightly coated in a deliciously addicting Ume flavoring that really makes you taste the culture of Japan. You can find this snack almost anywhere you go in Japan as it is just so good. I hope you enjoy this snack as much as Japanese people do as well!

The red package to the very left is Spicy Karamucho Hot Chili Chips! This spicy snack is one of my favorite snacks ever because of the delicious Chili flavoring and crispy texture. The potato chip is skinny like shoestring fries evenly coated in mildly spicy Chili flavoring. It’s not overpoweringly strong flavored or intensely spicy so it is very tasty and you can thoroughly enjoy it. The light and crispy texture make them very easy to eat as well. I hate it when spicy things are just spicy and have no flavor except HOT but because Karamucho's chili flavoring is quite mild, you can still thoroughly enjoy the mouth watering Japanese chips!

This yellow package is Stick Potato in Seaweed Salt flavoring! Just like the Karamucho Hot Chili Chips, these are potato chips that are skinny like shoestring fries but instead of spicy chili, it is coated in seaweed salt. The seaweed salt is not overpowering at all and just gives the light and crispy chips a classic Japanese flavoring. You could say that they’re like remixed potato chips! These potatoes are all from Japan with Japanese flavoring so these can really immerse you in Japanese regions as you snack on these!

The next one in pink packaging is Kaki no Tane Ume Shiso flavor Peanut and Cracker Snack! As said on the packaging, this is Japan’s Number 1 favorite snack! Everyone loves Kaki no Tane! This is Ume Shiso flavor which is Umeboshi (pickled plum) and shiso (beefsteak plant herb) flavoring. Very traditionally Japanese flavor while still not being overpowering and staying as a very classic and fun flavor. Kaki no Tane is a very common “dad snack” that father’s in Japan love, including mine. The crunchy biscuit with peanuts sprinkled throughout is a great snack on its own as well as being a great pairing for Japanese beer!

Last but certainly not least is Butamen Tonkotsu flavor cup ramen! A small cup of tonkotsu ramen that is a super fun snack for anyone from children to adults! Tonkotsu ramen is a dish that originates from Fukuoka prefecture in Japan where Hakata ramen is also from. It is made of pork bone broth using parts of the pig that are collagen rich, making it silky and rich in flavor. Just pour in boiling water just like any other instant ramen and enjoy!

That's the end of the explanation and items may vary in the box. However, the amount and value will not change. I'm looking forward to hearing your own reviews! Enjoy!
